Our weekends were supposed to be ours. Most of the time, they started with a to-do list.
Dust on every surface. Cushions that needed a wipe before anyone could sit. A film of dirt on the windows, bird droppings on the stucco, a grill that needed attention before it could be used. By the time the yard was ready, half of Saturday was gone.
Then there's the heat. In Phoenix, the best hours outside are early morning and evening, and we were spending them working instead of enjoying them.
And we realized this problem was solved indoors a long time ago. You hire a housekeeper and get your weekend back. Outside, everyone was still doing it themselves, or just not going out there at all.
So we built the other half.
Now Saturday starts in a chair, not with a hose. Coffee on the patio, dinner under the string lights, friends over without a second thought. The backyard is where the weekend happens instead of where it goes.
